Barts Health is an internationally renowned institute for cardiac care. Cardiothoracic surgery and interventional cardiology services are currently based at the London Chest and St Bartholomew hospitals, in the autumn of 2014 Barts and London Chest ICUs and HDUs are moving into a new state of the art 42 bed purpose built Critical Care area on the St BartholomewÂ'sÂ' site. When completed Barts Health will be one of the largest and most modern health care institutions in Europe. A unique development opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and committed nurses to experience the many aspects of critical care that are currently provided across the critical care areas at Barts and the London Chest. The rotation will consist of two nine month placements in a cardiac ICU and HDU.

• St. Bartholomew's ICU supports one of London's main Cancer Centres and the Cardiothoracic and cardiac arrhythmia! services. It offers the opportunity to work with varying specialities including: haematology, oncology, endocrinology, cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery.

• The London Chest ICU cares for patients following cardio thoracic surgery, cardiology patients many of whom are admitted through the Regional Heart Attack Centre and patients with complex respiratory disease.

• The Cardiac High Dependency Units at St Bartholomew and the London Chest provide care for level 2 patients who have undergone cardiac and thoracic surgery.

You will need a minimum of 6 months acute ward nursing experience. We need you to be dynamic, motivated team players and possess excellent verbal and written, communication / people skills. The successful candidates will be expected to deliver high quality care within the framework of the multi-disciplinary team. You will be supported by an experienced inter-professional team which includes nurses, doctors and allied health pro! fessionals. Your development will be based on the Foundation in Critica! l Care Nursing Programme which includes a series of 4 study days to help provide the theoretical knowledge required for the acquisition of clinical skills and competencies. At the end of your rotation there will be opportunity to access University level 3 Critical Care Course/modules.
This is an excellent opportunity to consolidate and develop your critical care skills with the support of an experienced senior team.
