The ideal candidate must have a keen interest in childca! re, flexible and be willing to learn.

The following duties will be undertaken in this role:
Provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment

To motivate and stimulate children̢۪s learning abilities

Policy implementation especially in respect of Health & Safety, safeguarding, equal opportunities

To complete children̢۪s learning journals and ensure they are kept up-to-date

Working creatively to meet the needs of the families

Undertake First Aid, child protection, Food hygiene and Health & safety training and keep them up-to-date

To attend staff meetings

To be responsible for nursery resources and report low or damaged stock

To maintain a positive image of Little Oaks at all times (in & outside of the setting)

Plan activities to meet the individual needs of each child

To work as part of a team

To help and support students/volunteers

To be responsibl! e for completing own PDR and attending PDR review meetings wit! h the manager

Working as part of the team to cover staff absence or sickness

To develop partnership with parents; especially for key children̢۪s families

Cleaning duties

Acting as a positive role model

This i! s an excellent opportunity for anyone who is looking to take their first steps towards a career in childcare. For the right person, the nursery may take this person on to complete a Level Three qualification and more permanent employment. However the successful candidate much show a willingness to have a career in childcare as well as perform during their Apprenticeship, ensuring high standards, hard working ethic and punctuality is kept to the maximum at all times.

This will be a challenging role however it will also be very rewarding.

From the 1st October 2013 a National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is in force for young people aged 16-18 and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. The rate is a minimum of per hour.

This NMW applies to time working plus time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship. Anyone not covered by the age category above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate to their age.
