Independent Hospice in Birmingham is looking to appoint a middle grade anesthetist which specializes in Palliative Care. A key feature is working with! a skilled multi-professional team with clinical nurse specialists having a relatively autonomous role. Education of others is also a major part of the work. There is some opportunity for technical interventions and ample opportunity to preserve the satisfaction of close doctor-patient relationships and consultant delivered services. There is a lot of liaison and true consultation work with GP and consultant colleagues.
In such a relatively new specialty, a consultant is often involved in strategy, development and shaping of services therefore you shall be there to assist them every step of the way. This will also drive career progression for an ideal candidate.
All applicants must be registered with GMC and have experience in Palliative care.
Personal qualities should include:
***Enjoy a holistic, team approach to care, placing the patients wishes and priorities at the centre of any consultation
***Good communication skills are ess! ential
***Ability to tolerate uncertainty
***Exception! al skills in clinical judgment
***An aptitude for reflective practice is helpful
***Ability to face ethical issues which cannot be avoided
