About the College
Milton Keynes College is a leading Further Education College providing vocational, academic, professional and higher educat! ion courses across four Milton Keynes based campuses. The College also holds the contract to deliver the Offenders' Learning and Skills Service at various prisons and young offenders institutions.
Description of duties
- Be a reliable member of a team, working co-operatively and with flexibility.
- Observe each child's progress and report on achievements, looking for progression and continuity, participate in a Keyperson' system and take a special interest in a specified number of children.
- Develop excellent communication and positive relationships with parents / guardians, encouraging them to participate in their child's progress standards of care are provided and development.
- Supervise children at play (indoor and outdoor) and at mealtimes.
- Assist with planning a programme of activities, suitable for the age range of the children, following the guidelines for the implementation of every Child Matters and the Early! Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
- Assist with the c! reation of a stimulating and attractive classroom environment.
Experience / Qualifications
- NVQ3 or equivalent in Early Years Care and Education.
- Good basic general education including GCSE (or) equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C or above.
- Paediatric first aid qualification (desirable).
- Experience working within a Nursery, ideally as a Nursery Nurse.
- Previous childcare experience with age range 0 to 5 years.
- Experience of working with students who may have little experience of education and training.
- Accuracy and precision in written presentation.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
