Export Administration & Shipping Apprentice [United Kingdom]


 

What you’ll do:

We are looking for an apprentice Export Administration and Shipping Clerk.
The successful candidate will initially spend a large amount of time supporting all shipping administration functions – creating shipping documentation – packing lists, commercial invoices, Certificate of Conformity, Certificate of Origin. Time will be spent with all shipping personnel to gain a full experience of the shipping department. Time will also be spent with the wider customer support team to gain a general knowledge of the whole department functions which is vital to gain a wider knowledge and understanding of the whole department and our customer values.
Experience will be gained in all functions of the Shipping role, including the following day to day tasks:
1.Support on creating shipping documentation – predominately via SAP for packing list/commercial invoice.
2.Creating Chamber of commerce docs – COO.
3.Understanding of Inco terms and what they mean for ownership of shipment, specifically revenue recognition.
4.Chasing customers for pick-up of ready goods, gaining FF information and liaising for collection – ensuring customer has all requested documentation to facilitate pick up.
5.Understand Export legislation – including harmonised commodity codes, exporter of record (outside support needed)
6.Collating of documentation for audit purposes – internal and HMRC. AWB/Bill of Lading/Sads
7.Basic understanding of VAT application for export (including triangulation shipments)
8.Develop relationships with customers, Eaton FF and customer FF.
9.Deal with customer expeditor requests for documentation
10.Work with despatch team in gaining correct weights and dims for customer orders – both individual orders and customer consolidation.
11.Tracking shipments for POD scanning for compliance.
12.Understanding of country specific requirements – ie Saber for Saudia Arabia, QTC for Qatar – this is documentation based.

The aim of the apprenticeship is to provide the successful candidate with a wide range of skills and Eaton policies and procedures which will help the apprentice to secure a position within Eaton’s Shipping Team upon successful completion of both the academic and practical aspects of the apprenticeship.
