DAY to DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position carries out the day-to-day creditor's financial administration and is required to:
- Analyse invoices for taxation requirements to ensure compliance with audit needs and the correct reporting on the Business Activity Statements.
- Compile large amounts of information, allocate to given expenditure numbers, and reconcile where necessary.
- Identify and provide solutions to any financial creditors' problems that arise in relation to the payment of invoices.
- Ensure all problems and conflicts are resolved in a timely manner;
- Must be able to organize and plan workflow, set priorities, and achieve deadlines without supervision.
- Assist other team members in providing solutions to individual staff regarding payments to creditors.
- Make decisions on the payment or non-payment of creditors based on the documentation and authorization provided.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Considerable experience or knowledge of accounting functions at an appropriate level including an understanding of computerised accounts payable systems.
- Knowledge of warehouse process practices.
- High level of administration and clerical skills.
- Maintain a positive and courteous approach when dealing with customers.
- Understanding of, and commitment to the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity and Workplace Health and Safety.
- Good computer skills including word processing, spreadsheeting, and keyboard skills
- Demonstrated ability to participate in a team-based area.
DESIRABLE
- Previous Local Government experience, preferably within financial services.
