Core duties & Responsibilities
Professional Leadership / Management
- Practice within the guidelines of the General Medical Council
- Maintain confidentiality of all patients identifiable information and contacts
- Maintain clinical knowledge and competence using best practice, evidence based guidelines and supervision
- Have a clear understanding of the legal issues and professional accountability related to telephone consultation/triage if applicable
- Inform manager on call of any professional concerns during the OOH`s service
- Support oth! er staff as necessary
- Promote a safe and effective se! rvice at all times
- Provide a high quality assessment of all patients referred to you
- Identify life threatening symptoms and act appropriately
- Provide self care advice where appropriate
- Always leave patients with a safety net, ensuring they have the means to contact help if their condition changes
- Maintain excellent communications with all team members and other Allied Health Care Professional in the development of the unplanned care agenda
- Identify and action own development needs and establish personal clinical supervision as per Revalidation guidelines
- Maintain a personal development plan
- Help create and maintain an appropriate learning environment to meet the educational needs of all team members
- Attend mandatory training
- Ensure risk management systems are adhered to and that untoward incidents are recorde! d
- Support the development of practice that is informed by the findings of clinical effectiveness and research
- Participate in audits and research
Education and Qualifications
- Medical degree approved by the GMC
- Good all round education. Evidence of Continued Professional and Personal Development (CPPD)
- MRCGP
- ILS (compulsory)
- Enhanced CRB
- PLS
