This locum consultant post is part of an exciting new service formed by the joining together of the Specialist Palliative Care Teams from Be! rkshire West and South Oxfordshire. You will join a committed, enthusiastic and flexible Consultant team of four consultants. This post in based at the 15 bedded inpatient unit at Duchess of Kent House in Reading and is supported by a medical team consisting of an associate specialist, an SpR, an F2 and two part-time staff grade doctors. We enjoy excellent clinical and educational links with nurse specialists and community matrons supporting patients with complex, long term and life limiting conditions and with home care providers and also with the acute hospital. Sue Ryder is the second largest provider of specialist palliative care and one of the biggest providers of neurological care. The organisation provides three healthcare service models: ÂÂœ specialist palliative care and end of life multidisciplinary services operated from 7 hospices ÂÂœ neurological complex care services operated from seven residential centres ÂÂœ health and social care packages within the home! environment Sue Ryders strategic direction is to develop high! quality services meeting the whole range of need at the end of life. Patient choice and innovation are central to this.
