Service/Function/department summary
The School Nurse is a registered general nurse working as part of the Essex Child and family Wellbeing Service in providing preventative and supportive health care to children, young people and their families within the Uttlesford Healthy Family Team. The post holder works with a public health focus within a defined population. As part of the Healthy Family team the post holder collaborates with a wider multi-disciplinary and inter-agency team in offering public health services to the community. The work takes place in a variety of settings, including home, schools, clinics, Family Hubs, Delivery sites and community venues

Our School Nursing team has a range of skill mix to support development and to enable you to deliver and excellent service locally. Virgin Care offers our School Nurses fantastic opportunities to further develop their career and we offer newly qualified School Nurses excellent preceptorship, mentorship and supervision.
The role will also involve:
Working within the Team alongside the Integrated team including Health Visitors and Healthy Family Workers we have a great professional support network which includes regular interaction and team meetings that allows us to provide an invaluable care service in both a home based and clinical environment that gives variety on a daily basis.
In this challenging role you will also:
Be responsible for contributing to the holistic assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care
Implement, monitor and maintain our high standards of care
Re-assess and re-evaluate programmes of care when needed
Support our in-house mentorship training scheme with placements, students and staff

The essential qualities we are looking for in our School Nurse (SCPHN) applicants are:
Entry on third part of Nursing and Midwifery Register as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse as degree level or equivalent.
Training and Post - Registration experience
CPD Portfolio
Multidisciplinary approach to care
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Able to work under pressure and prioritise caseload
Demonstrate ongoing professional development and a commitment to providing high quality, safe and effective care that meets the needs of patients
Leadership and supervisory skills to support the Community Health Worker
Ability to relate to patients and colleagues in a sensitive manner
Full driving licence and access to a car
