We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled leader to become our operations manager in a large endoscopy department. You will have extensive change management experience and understand how to support staff at all grades and professions through change.

You will be keen to lead staff to ensure operational efficiency and efficacy. Working with the clinical lead and nurse manager the postholder will be a role model and part of a triumvirate of management within the department.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop a new role of operations manager in the Nationally accredited Endoscopy Department in Southampton General Hospital. The role will involve working with a variety of specialist clinical and non clinical staff to ensure the smooth and efficient running of this large department and ensuring that patient safety and experience are at the heart of all activities within this busy area.

The role involves ensuring compliance with a range of nationally and locally agreed targets to maintain the reputation of endoscopy as a key regional centre within Wessex. The department supports activity which include regional physiology, gastro-enterology, respiratory endoscopy and national bowel cancer screening.

This role is part of a widespread redesign of the operations team across the specialist medicine care group. The care group supports specialist medicine activities in day case and outpatient settings across 17 specialities across multiple sites across the region.

The successful candidate will support the care group operations manager and deputise for them during absence. They will also receive development in operational management across the care group. Endoscopy sits within this care group at Southampton General Hospital and works with all other care groups to ensure that planned and emergency endoscopic services are available across a 7 day pattern.

Whilst experience of operational management or endoscopy would be an advantage candidates from a wide range of leadership backgrounds are encouraged to apply for this interesting and diverse role.
