Marie Cur! ie Cancer Care is the leading end of life care charity in the UK that strives to deliver the best possible palliative care; to as many people as possible, completely free of charge. Last year alone, about 2,000 Marie Curie nurses cared for over 35,000 people ensuring that they were able to retain their dignity and as much independence as possible, right until the very end. Just to put the scope of our work into context; we are the second biggest provider of beds in the UK, only behind the NHS.
That said, we still have so much more work to do. According to a recent survey, over 60% of the UK public would chose to die at home if given the opportunity. And yet, only 25% of the population get their wish, with over 55% of the UK population dying in hospital; the least desirable place to die. At Marie Curie Cancer Care, we ALWAYS put our patients first and quite simply, we need to reach more people; to do that, we desperately need more funding.
As a street fundr! aiser, you will be joining a very passionate and motivated tea! m of fundraisers who wake up every morning, determined to make a difference. By approaching members of the public in the street, you will engage and inspire people to commit to supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care through the means of a regular donation by Direct Debit.
You will fundraise on the streets of London between 10am and 6pm in a different location every day. Whilst previous experience is preferable, it is definitely not essential; you will be provided with comprehensive introductory training and tailored mentoring and coaching throughout your career with us and we offer great career progression opportunities!
