The Hosp! itals primarily have five types of customer, patients, consultants, insurance companies, GPs and staff, each with their own demands and expectations.
Bishops Wood Hospital is a 42-bed acute care independent hospital situated within the grounds of Mount Vernon Hospital. In addition to the in-patient accommodation, the Hospital has 6 consulting rooms, Imaging department, physiotherapy, two operating theatres with minor procedure room, together with administrative and ancillary support departments.
Purpose
To support the Imaging Manager and Consultant Radiologists in the provision of diagnostic imaging services.
Dimensions
Diagnostic Imaging Services across include General Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, and Digital Mammography, Dental imaging, Bone Densitometry, mobile x-ray and theatre II. We have a mobile MR supplied by In Health. In addition we have access to Nuclear Medicine , bone density and CT from external hospitals
Diagnostic Imaging is a key link in the provision of s! ervices and provides facilities for every specialty in the hospital as well as offering a service to local General Practitioners. The department provides 24-hour emergency cover and is open 5 days per week between 088:00am and 8:30pm. The clinical mix includes general orthopaedic, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, oncology and breast work, both in the department and within the operating theatre.
The Imaging Departments function with a Computerised Radiography (CR) system and are networked to the company wide PACS.
Key Outputs
Clinical
Ensure that all patients sent for examination are referred in accordance with The Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000, commonly referred to as IRMER, with relevant clinical information obtained and recorded prior to any diagnostic examination being performed. Reference must be made to the Regulations (IRMER), Approved Code of Practice, Royal College of Radiologists’ Guidelines and any Loc! al Rules, Systems of Work and policies & procedures that may be current.
Provide clinical assistance, as directed, to the consultant radiologists or any other doctor who may reasonably require it.
Apply basic nursing skills in the care and management of the patient and inform the clinicians and/or nursing staff of any changes in the patient’s condition whilst in your care.
Customer Relationship Management
Deal with staff, visitors and patients in a courteous and professional manner at all times, constantly updating knowledge of services and facilities available.
Be an ambassador for the Hospital at all times.
Skills/Knowledge
Good communication skills
Current knowledge of modern imaging techniques and applied practice
Experience
Post qualifying radiographic work experience.
