The Lawn Tennis Association is the National Governing Body for British tennis and our goal is to grow and sustain the sport.

Our focus is to develop participation growth, helping more people to play tennis; we also invest in performance tennis and deliver world class major events, whilst we service British tennis to support all of these areas.

The Performance Pastoral Supervisor will work within the Performance Team to support the development of Britain's best young tennis players. The Performance Team, which includes the National Coaches, regional Talent and Performance Managers, as well as the Sports Science and Sports Medicine teams, require a supervisor to look after players aged between 8 and 18 when attending national training camps at the National Tennis Centre (NTC).

The team run approximately 28 weeks of national training camps during term times throughout the year and the role of Pastoral Supervisor is essential to the successful management of these camps. This is a permanent term-time role, based residentially on a full-board basis on-site at the NTC giving you full pastoral responsibility for between 4 and 16 children from a Sunday evening until Wednesday afternoon when the camps are in progress. The role involves ensuring the safety and comfort of these young players as well as encouraging stimulation and providing lifestyle support for them.

We're looking for someone with extensive experience of caring and working with children of a young age up until 18. Prospective candidates would ideally have an understanding of performance sport and the demands of this on young people. A qualification in nursing or medicine would be desirable but not essential. You will be able to foster excellent relationships with LTA colleagues as well as players, parents and coaches, exhibit outstanding empathic and nurturing skills, and have the credibility to quickly become a key point of contact and pastoral responsibility. Excellent knowledge and understanding of current child protection, safeguarding, and health and safety protocol is essential.

This role is anticipated to start on 10th September 2012 to coincide with the new academic year and holidays would be expected to be taken outside the periods when the national training camps are scheduled.
