East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust provides a range of health care services primarily for the people of East Lancashire, which comprises of the Boroughs of Blackburn, Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle, and Ribble Valley. Our Trust aims to provide appropriate, high-quality personal and organisational development interventions, which will improve patient care.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our busy 34 cot Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Unit.

We are looking for enthusiastic, caring & compassionate Staff Nurses with the highest professional sta! ndards, good communication skills and the ability to work effe! ctively within a busy team.

Whilst previous neonatal experience would be advantageous, attitude, commitment and a determination to provide the very best of care to the most rewarding of patient groups is absolutely essential.

Essential qualifications RN or RSCN/RNC or RM

The Lancashire Women & Newborn Centre, located at Burnley General Hospital, serves the population of East Lancashire. The maternity service manages 6500 deliveries each year. The community served by the Trust is highly diverse with a complex mix of clinical and cultural needs.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit has level 3 status and provides the intensive care neonate with a full range of specialist modalities. The Unit is responsible for more than 650 admissions per year and supports the Lancashire & South Cumbria Region.

Continuous Neonatal care provided by the service, supports the Intensive & high dependency babies through special care and back into the commun! ity. Wherever possible we provide Neonatal support to mothers and babies in the maternity setting to enable special care babies to remain alongside their mothers.

The STARS transport team operating from the unit works in partnership with the Royal Preston Hospital providing retrieval and repatriation of babies across the entirety of the Lancashire & South Cumbria network.

We also have specialist feeding support and a dedicated research nurse. We are currently actively developing a Care & Support Team to provide specialised care for families going through distressing times.

Continuous personal development is supported and facilitated by our Education team and, as a band 5 Staff Nurse, you will be expected to provide a family centred approach to care across all areas. Following a comprehensive induction the opportunity to access dedicated training in a specialty would be the expectation.

The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £48.00, which includes a small handling fee.

In line with oth! er NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied. Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary.
