The role will be working within the Endoscopy team in one of the most prestigious hospitals in the country. The department is very busy and comprises a 2 room endoscopy unit, connected to a 25 bed day ward. Job Description:
The core of the role will be to assess, plan, deliver and implement a high standard of nursing care, ensuring that the individual needs of the patient are responded to. This will involve tact and sensitivity when liaising with consultants, staff, patients, visitors and other internal/external departments whilst also consistently maintaining a high level of clinical practice.
Hours: Full time (Monday-Friday), shifts from 07:30-20:00, plus ! participation in On Call.
Duties and Responsibilit! ies:
- Assess, implement and evaluate the care needs of patients undergoing endoscopic procedures
- Plan and deliver care for admissions and discharges
- Early recognition of clinical problems and report or take appropriate action
- Maintenance of accurate records
- Decontamination of equipment and ensuring equipment is in good working order
- Assist with the storage, tracking and use of all flexible endoscopes in accordance with current regulations
- Initiate improvements and developments in clinical issues and delivery of care
- All ad hoc nursing duties as required by senior staff, including potential deputising for Sister in their absence
- RGN, NMC registered with PIN
- Previous recent experience and knowledge of Endoscopic procedures, including some ERCP
- Confident communicator with high levels of written and spoken English
- Knowledg! e of JAG/GRS would be desirable
- Experience of Capsule Endoscopy would also be advantageous
The successful candidate will be adaptable and able to meet changing working patterns and caseload, working independently as well as within the team. They will possess a passion for delivering customer service and a desire to provide an exceptional patient experience.
Due to the nature of the role, adherence to policy, procedure and guidelines will be of paramount importance in conjunction with the customer-centric attitude.
