Description

Arbury Court is a 74 bedded unit compromising of 6 secure wards for female patients.

We require a Deputy Charge Nurse who will provide visible leadership and effective shift management to the nursing team including:

  • Understand and work within professional boundaries.
  • Ensure a commitment to the promotion and delivery of basic living skills within a forensic mental health care setting.
  • Participate in the delivery of evidence based interdisciplinary programmes of care.
  • Support junior staff in their contribution to therapeutic interventions as agreed by the interdisciplinary team.
  • Manage medication as per hospital policy.
  • Contribute to health promotion within the ward environment.
  • Apply recognised therapeut! ic interventions e.g. CBT, PSI
  • Respect the role and f! unction of the team and accept collective responsibility for team decisions.
  • Operate effectively as a team member.
  • Promote effective decision making.
  • Act as mentor/preceptor and ensure the development of student nurses and other team members.
  • Assess staff nurses within the competency development programme.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant legislation, government and local policy and best practice including the Mental Health Act. Clinical Governance and Standards for Better Health.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety and security legislation, and policy.
  • To participate in maintaining the physical, relational and procedural security of the service to ensure the safety of all
Qualifications/Experience

Qualifications:
RMN/RMNH/RNLD

Experience:
  • Demonstrable post registration experience.
  • Experience of working in a supervisory capacity.
  • Ex! perience of secure environment and interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Experience of assessing and teaching junior staff.
  • Experience of co-ordinating care.
  • Experience of prioritising key tasks in relation to sphere of work.
  • Experience of management of Health & Safety and related issues.
  • Experience of report writing.
