Perinatal Support Project

The Perinatal Support Project recruits, trains and supervises volunteer Befrienders to support women who are pregnant or have a! child less than one year old, and who have mental health problems or Post Natal Depression. The aims of the project are to support the baby’s emotional development and to reduce social isolation.

Perinatal Support Co-ordinator

£24,887 to £27,310 per annum

37 hours per week

Swaffham (the project covers West and Breckland)

You will be responsible for the further development of the existing project over the next three years. This will involve liaising with professionals including Health Visitors, Midwives and Children’s Centres and other referrers to promote the project. You will manage referrals to the project, carry out initial assessments, match mothers with a volunteer Befriender and monitor and evaluate the outcomes. You will also be responsible for recruiting, training and supervising the volunteer Befrienders.

Preferably you will have a qualification in Social Work, Nursing or other family support or health re! lated work experience. You will be able to engage with familie! s and have the knowledge and skills to undertake a holistic assessment of a family’s needs. Sound knowledge of child development, safeguarding and the CAF process is essential. You will also be required to deliver training and to offer regular supervision to the volunteers. You must have access to a vehicle for business purposes and be able to travel frequently, sometimes at short notice, across the West and Breckland area.
