The Cardiovascular Research Support Unit (CVRSU) is a new and dynamic team which supports research projects ongoing in the Cardiovascular Sciences Directorate within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT). CVRSU includes Project Management, Research Nursing and Clinical Trial Administration staff to support clinicians in the efficient and effective delivery of clinical research to a high standard; with a focus on team-work and support.

Cardiovascular Sciences includes the following specialities:

  • Cardiology
  • Cardiothoracic surgery
  • Vascular Surgery
  • Vascular medicine (including lipid medicine and hypertension)
The CVRSU is delivered jointly by Cardiovascular Sciences (ICHT) and Imperial Clin! ical Trials Unit (ICTU). We are now looking to recruit two Cli! nical Research Nurses. As a Clinical Research Nurse you will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical trials. This will involve the recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data. You will work collaboratively with the clinical trial teams and the wider multidisciplinary teams in the management of your own caseload of clinical trial patients. The role involves using an in depth knowledge of trial protocols and their application in practice, alongside a working knowledge and compliance with the local, national and international research regulations.

You will be required to be a registered general nurse with evidence of professional development since registration. You will also be required to have experience of research in a clinical setting and Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Clinical or research experience in any of disease areas covered! by Cardiovascular Sciences would also be beneficial. You will be a dynamic team player whilst being able to work independently and using initiative to manage multiple projects.

These posts are full-time and fixed-term until 27 March 2014 in the first instance. Job shares will be considered.

The post holder will be required to work across the three hospital sites within ICHT: Hammersmith (East Acton), St MaryÂ's (Paddington) and Charing Cross (Hammersmith). Travel to other research sites across London may be required. You will be line managed by the CVRSU Senior Research Nurse.
